The Importance of Music in Education

Martucci Music aims to provide all students with rigorous and comprehensive music curriculum that fosters both maximum academic as well as personal achievement in character development within a safe learning environment in which students are able to self-cultivate and become:

Effective Communicators

Able to communicate effectively through the expression of music and sound and to understand this language that has been utilized by humans throughout our existence as a way to capture, express and preserve the human life and experience.

Able to articulate their points of view respectfully through class discussions and musical analysis.

Academically Prepared

Able to understand how musical arts connects with their core academic learning and their personal development as a member of their communities.

Able to make analytical claims and use evidence to justify their reasoning.

Able to transition to high school and become college and career ready both in the academics of music and in the personal development that music education provides.

Independent Thinkers

Able to confidently use their academic and social skills attained through their music education to think critically and solve real-world problems.

Able to set and achieve personal goals.

Socially Responsible

Able to work collaboratively as a member of the New Hope and Robla communities through collaborative music projects i.e. Choir, Band, Recitals, and other performance opportunities.

Able to humbly engage in service-learning projects, such as weekly structured, 1-to-1 private music lessons for Robla elementary school students.
