Parent & Student FAQs
How Young Do You Take Students?

Every child is different when it comes to their attention span and ability to take formal voice lessons. Teachers will assess each individual student’s level and tailor lessons to what works for each student’s learning style.

For our youngest students, that means incorporating music theory games and activities that teach them notes, dynamic signs, etc. along with their vocal technic.

How Old Do You Take Students?

No one is ever too old to enjoy voice lessons. That being said, while some students are looking for an academic vocal experience, other students simply want to enjoy a hobby. We cater to both approaches. Your goals for yourself are our goals.

What Styles or Genres Do You Teach?

We teach all styles and genres (musical theater, jazz, classical, pop, R&B etc) with the foundations of a classical technique. We believe that a classical technique is the best for longterm health and care of the vocal cords.

A classical technique simply means a traditional, long-proven technique that has historically been the foundational technique of western world singing.

How Often Should Students Practice During The Week?

Every moment you spend singing, is like saving money in the bank: it adds up. We recommend at least 30 minutes of practice every day. The time can be split up as well: 15minutes/15minutes or however you see fit for you or your student.

How Often are Lessons Held?

Our lessons are weekly, half-hour private sessions.
A student will learn a concept and then be expected to go home and practice it daily through the week before coming to their next lesson to touch base on the first concept and learn the next concept.

That being said, a student can also sign up for twice as much weekly time if they would like a more intensive experience.

In this case, the membership would simply double for double the time.

What is the Cost for Vocal Lessons?

Membership at Martucci Music is a monthly flat rate. This doesn’t fluctuate when there is a holiday or a fifth lesson-week in the month. We keep it simple.

What If I have to Cancel a Lesson?

According to our studio policy, you can cancel a lesson through your student portal up to 24 hours before your lesson in order to be eligible for scheduling a makeup lesson. Any lesson cancelled with less than a 24-hour’s notice, is not eligible for a makeup lesson or refund. We recommend, when in doubt, rescheduling ahead of time is best.

Do You Have Recitals & Are They Mandatory?

Yes, we hold four recitals! None of these are mandatory, however. Students participate voluntarily.
