Student & Parent FAQs

Do we have to have our own instrument to take lessons?

Yes. You will learn new concepts at every lesson and are expected to practice them every day at home before checking in with your teacher at your next lesson to learn the next concept.

That said, you don’t have to have your own cello do have a first lesson. Your teacher can discuss an instrument for you at your first lesson.

Where can we get a cello and how do know if it’s the right size?

There are local places that will measure you as well as rent or sell you a cello. However, usually these music stores don’t have professional cellists on staff to talk to you so it’s better to have this conversation with your teacher at your first lesson.

How young do you take students?

Every child is different when it comes to their attention span and ability to take formal music lessons. Teachers will assess an individual student’s level and tailor lessons to what works for each student’s learning style. For our youngest students, that means incorporating music theory games that will teach them notes, dynamic signs, etc. along with their instrument.

How old do you take students?

No one is ever too old to enjoy cello lessons. Some students are looking for an academic music experience and some students want to simply enjoy a hobby. We cater to both. Your goals for yourself are also our goals.

How much is tuition and memberships?

Group Lessons – $135/mo
Private Lessons (30min) – $175/mo
Private Lessons (45min) – $255/mo
Music Membership – $255/mo
Master Tuition – $340/mo

This doesn’t fluctuate if there is a holiday or a fifth lesson-week in a month. The membership stays the same flat rate. We keep it simple!

Do you accept Charter funding?

Yes.
We have a special enrollment option for Charter families who intend to study year-round but are unable to request funding in the summer. This program takes our 12-month Out-of-Pocket cost and divides it among the 10 months of the Academic Year. Summer Loyalty months are earned as follows:

Group Lesson – $160.00/mo (August – May)
Private Lesson (30min) – $198.00/mo (August – May)
Membership – $298.00/mo (August – May)
Master Tuition – $390.00/mo (August – May)

Voucher submission for August-December – June free
Voucher submission for January-May – July free

What is the commitment requirement?

Commitment for cello lessons is on a month-to-month membership basis with a notice of cancellation by the 15th of the current lesson month in order to avoid the auto-invoicing that gets prepared for the 1st of the following month.

What if I have to cancel a lesson?

If you think you’ll be needing to cancel your music lesson, all we ask is for at least a 24-hour’s notice in order for that lesson to be eligible for a rescheduled time slot. Lessons cancelled with less than a 24-hour’s notice are not eligible for a makeup lesson or a refund. By law, our teachers are required to be paid for the time they were scheduled for on the day of the lesson. That is why we ask for a 24-hour’s notice of cancellation.

Would You Want to do a Trial Lesson?

A Trial Lesson Includes:
• A full 30min session.
• Meet your instructor.
• Sample a lesson with them.
• Ask all of your questions.
• Get sized for a cello.
• Find out where you should get a cello right for you.
• Get a professional assessment of your current technical skills.
• Walk away with a plan for what future tailored lessons would look like for you.

We look forward to meeting you!
