Venue & Parking
For 2022 year, all of our recitals are hosted at WJ Geery Theater. The Geery Theater is a small, intimate venue that seats forty-nine guests.
Our students get the full performance experience: stage lights! Grand piano (if needed!) Full stage!
There is side street parking available. The Geery Theater is located in midtown, so please plan to arrive well ahead of call time to park; avoid being late!
Call Time
Call time depends on what you are performing. If you need a SOUND CHECK you must arrive fifty-minutes before show start time. So what does that mean?
- Singers who will be using a microphone, or will be accompanied by an accompanist or ensemble are strongly recommended to show up for call time.
- Instrumentalists who will use amplification (electric guitar, etc.) are also strongly recommended to show up for call time.
- First time recital performers are invited thirty-minutes before show time. This is regardless of instrument. All first-timers get the opportunity to walk through the space and play a short excerpt of their work.
- Any other students must arrive fifteen-minutes before show start time.
PLEASE NOTE: Not every student will get sound check. Please be kind to all performers and teachers and understand that our more “seasoned” student performers already know what to expect. If there are more than TEN minutes remaining we will invite all other students; however the point of soundcheck is to ensure balance in sound (mics, amps, etc.) We appreciate your understanding!
Dress Code
A recital is the opportunity for students to showcase their hard work and progress! Dress for the occasion! Performers are prompted to wear something that is comfortable to perform in and that makes them feel confident. Female singer do NOT need to wear a dress or skirt. However, we ask students not wear flip-flops or shorts.
Choose Your Recital!
Please be sure to choose the correct recital that you or your child will be performing in. We offer a 2:00 PM and a 6:00 PM performance. Our limit for each recital is TWELVE students, this ensures the theater is not over capacity. Registering is easy; simply login to the Student Portal and go to the calendar. Our upcoming recitals are:
- October 29th: Fall Recitals
- December 10th: Holiday Recitals
Find these dates in the calendar and you will see the recital events. Click “Register” and voila!
Program Order
Program order is assigned by the recital coordinator. We try to balance singers and instrumentalists throughout the program. Please expect the official program to be posted the week of the recital at the studio.
Ticket Purchases
Our ticket purchases allow for us to support the WJ Geery Theater. We are proud to be a small, Sacramento local business that supports other small, local businesses. Tickets are available for $8 and can be purchased for in-house seating or a Zoom livestream.
