Singing Lessons FAQ
How Young Do You Take Students?
Every child is different when it comes to their attention span and ability to take formal singing lessons. Teachers will assess each individual student’s level and tailor lessons to what works for each student’s learning style.
For our youngest students, that means incorporating music theory games and activities that teach them notes, dynamic signs, etc. along with their singing technic.
How Old Do You Take Students?
No one is ever too old to enjoy singing lessons. While some students are looking for an academic vocal experience, other students want to simply enjoy a hobby. We cater to both approaches. Your goals for yourself are our goals.
How Often Are Singing Lessons Held?
Our lessons are weekly, half-hour private sessions.
How Often Should I Practice During the Week?
Every moment you spend singing, is like saving money in the bank: it adds up. We recommend at least 30 minutes of practice every day. The time can be split up as well: 15 minutes/15minutes or however you see fit for you or your student.
What is the Cost for Online Singing Lessons?

What if I Have to Cancel a Lesson?
According to our studio policy, you can cancel a lesson through your student portal up to 24 hours before your lesson in order to be eligible for scheduling a makeup lesson. Any lesson cancelled with less than a 24-hour’s notice, is not eligible for a makeup lesson or refund. We recommend, when in doubt, rescheduling ahead of time is best.
Do You Have Recitals and Are They Mandatory?
Yes, we hold a spring and fall recital and sometimes a small summer recital as well! None of these are mandatory, however. Students participate voluntarily.
Self-Vulnerability
Our music lessons develop students to go beyond self-awareness and into action. Being self-aware is worth nothing if it doesn’t lead to actionable steps for change or personal improvement.
How are Self-Awareness, Self-Confidence, & Self-Expression Emphasized?
Body PostureVoice lessons at Martucci Music foster a self-awareness of how one currently carries the body versus the training of how one should carry the body, which is tall and open. Good posture is required when singing and its practice is a life skill that will carry over into a student’s everyday life.Body TensionOur voice lessons develop an awareness to when and where your body holds its tension. Body tension is every musician’s enemy. Holding one’s breath when nervous or concentrating is equal to holding onto body tension. Learning to keep the breathing loose and free keeps one’s body mindful and stable.
Our vocal sessions incorporate practical techniques for identifying and releasing body tension.Breath Awareness and Control
Our voice lessons focus on the development of the physical awareness of how the body controls air flow. We begin with deep breathing as the foundation of all singing.
We focus on the skill of listening to one’s breath as well as understanding and interpreting one’s breathing patterns in order to influence positive mindset. This technique is often found in the practice of yoga as well.
Sound ManipulationThe techniques around the creations of sounds in singing develops an even more special awareness of the body. The sympathetic vibrations occur within the body develop in every student a deeper physical connection with themselves. This special experience is unique when it comes to vocal coaching.Emotional Intelligence
Our vocal lessons assist in developing the awareness of how one’s body reacts when under social anxiety or stress. We help identify where one’s mental and emotional stress comes from and give practical coaching on how to navigate through these phenomenons and how to self-analyze one’s emotions in order to acquire a more balanced mindset.
Emotional Expression
Our music school is a safe space where students can self-analyze and express themselves and their thoughts through musical expression. We tell students, “Every feeling is a note, every note is beautiful, and every note counts.”
Self-Vulnerability
Our music lessons develop students to go beyond self-awareness and into action. Being self-aware is worth nothing if it doesn’t lead to actionable steps for change or personal improvement.
That’s why we say it’s more than just music here. It’s a commitment to “Self”.
