Songwriting lessons take the development of self-awareness to a whole new level of self-analysis, self-realization, and expression. In these lessons, students will learn the formal structures and forms of songwriting and how to utilize them to explore and express the internal creative voice.

About Music & Songwriting Lessons at Martucci Music
We believe that our music lessons, including our songwriting lessons, should not only be focused on the musical forms of the instrument being studied. Since music has the power to address the whole person, it is therefore a wholesome experience of mind and body combined. That being said, our approach to teaching music is to emphasize the development of personal self-awareness, confidence, and expression to the health and wellness, as well as to the music education, of our student community.
What is Covered in Songwriting Lessons?
Lyric Writing ProcessLearning the art of introspection in songwriting and how to lyrically communicate with depth and precision within the framework of the art of songwriting.Lyrical FormLyric writing has a formal structure but a structure that can also be broken if you know the rules. There are aesthetics behind good form and bad form. Therefore, it is imperative to know when and how to break forms or even how different forms have different functions depending on the message you are trying to communicate.Musical FormSongwriting can include melodic motifs, melodic themes, phrase length, melodic contrast, melodic movement, and more. We will learn all of the aesthetics behind creating memorable melodies that are masterfully crafted since the object is always to master the potency of your message in order to convey the depth of what you are trying to communicate in song form.Harmonic FormIn songwriting, harmonic forms are the musical sounds that supports the melody. That is, the chords and the harmonies.
The patterns of these, basic structures of music theory and how to use different chords as a painter uses paint, that is, to add color, in this case musical color, to best support the message of the song being composed.Rhythmic FormWe build songs on rhythms or grooves and the the forms of these rhythms can either work for or against the message of a song.
We will learn to utilize the emphasized beats of a meter with the right emphasized lyric syllables. This is one of the key secrets to creating a successful song that enhances the potency of a song’s message.
Tuition
Our tuition is a flat rate of $150/mo for weekly, half hour, private sessions. This doesn’t fluctuate when there is a holiday or a fifth lesson-week in the month.
